Happy New Year!

The Waterly engineering team is made up of a group of extremely dedicated experts.  So much so, that while we're always working on features for our customers based on feedback, we also have our own list of things that we like to do to keep Waterly fresh and moving quickly for our customers.  We put those ideas into an ... *ahem* ... jar, and affectionately call it our "Cookie Time" list.  The idea is that while everyone is eating holiday cookies, it's a moment for our team to finally tackle those behind-the-scenes tasks that make Waterly great.  You won't see much of those things directly, but I can't tell you how appreciative I am of a team that wants to do the Right Thing because... it's the Right Thing, and take some holiday time to do it.

And now, on with our regularly scheduled updates:

Updates

New and Improved Metric Editor

As Waterly has added additional new features, the Metric editor has become quite large.  We've spent some time with our power users to come up with a more streamlined approach.  The editor still has all the same great features, just re-organized and cleaned up into a neat package to help Waterly editors accomplish tasks more quickly.

Keeping Up to Date

With the shift to TimeSeries data in Waterly, we're introducing some updated behavior for how WaterlyConnect (SCADA) data interacts with your metrics.  Previously, we would "lock in" the first received SCADA DataPoint of the day for daily metrics, or the first DataPoint received within any Interval.  Based on user feedback, we're changing that rule in this release.

As of this release, Daily metrics will always use the most recent DataPoint received from your SCADA system.  For instance, if your SCADA system sends Waterly data at 11:59pm, we will use that as the value for the day.   Interval metrics will retain the same behavior as they have had -- they will lock in the first DataPoint they receive within their Interval.  This approach has the advantage of allowing operators to be able to see the most current value for any  daily metric throughout their shift, right from their mobile device.

Putting the House in Order

Today we're releasing the ability to use drag-and-drop to reorder metrics when in Site Edit mode.  This makes it much faster and easier for supervisors to be able to update systems to be as easy to use as possible.

Thank You

We will use this space to update notes on the software if needed.

As always, we are grateful for all of our water and wastewater superheroes that we get to work with every day.  We hope you enjoy the new features, but as always, we welcome your suggestions, comments, and complaints.  The future of Waterly is driven by your input, so please keep the feedback coming by support ticket, phone call, email, or carrier pigeon.
